These are not guarantees. Climate, season, shade, panel angle and battery charging sources can move the result dramatically.
Start with an energy audit
List every 12V and AC load, its wattage or amperage, and realistic daily run time. Refrigeration, furnace blowers, vent fans, CPAP equipment, computers, induction cooking and electric heating deserve special attention. Heating air or water from batteries requires far more energy than charging phones or running lights.
Match every component
- Battery: compare usable capacity, cold-temperature charging limits, warranty and a correctly sized battery-management system.
- Charge controller: verify voltage and current limits with the proposed series/parallel panel configuration.
- Inverter: size for continuous and surge power, then account for idle consumption and wiring distance.
- Protection: use correctly sized conductors, fuses or breakers, disconnects, glands and secure mounting.
- Charging mix: many practical systems combine solar with shore power and alternator/DC-to-DC charging.
Incorrect DC wiring can overheat or cause fire. Follow component manuals and applicable codes; use a qualified RV or electrical professional when the design exceeds your training.
